Driving Home from NC
As I write this, rain is splattering our windshield and lightening is flashing all around, as we travel through the state of Ohio. We left Duck, NC, this morning. Our vacation was great there. Days were filled with hot summer sun, a refreshing pool, a sandy hot beach, shopping at unique little shops, snacking, gourmet home-cooked meals, delicious cocktails, catching up on the goings-on in each others lives, and play-time with kid cousins. So, you can see it is difficult to find the "up-side" of returning home to reality. Such is life, and that is what vacations are for. So, 'til the next one....we are so very thankful for times spent w/ close family in fun places, like we did the past 7 days.

Heddin East....
...to Duck, NC! Yea!!! Vacation has officially begun, as we head thru the longggggg state of IL right now :) Thanks to Aunt Kristen and Uncle Jerod, the kids have a "gift" to open each time they enter a new state! We'll be arriving at our destination tomorrow late afternoon, meeting Jerod's family and Nana Cheryl. Here is the house we'll call home, once we get there...http://www.southernshores.com/rentals/property/1041. Look out, quite little community of Duck, here come the Engle's and the Rife's!

Gma and Gpa Engle Visit
Gma and Gpa's last visit was filled w/ fishing, planting garden, playing outside w/ Sophie (their new puppy), shopping, and playing pretend....A great start to a busy last week of school. Class picnics, end of year programs, and a field trip consumed this week. Today, Thursday, was the last full day of school this year, and Bryton and Avery will miss seeing their teachers and classmates every day. They are anxious for summer fun and relaxed schedules, though, as am I!

Tastes of Spring
Sauteed morel mushrooms; moist rhubarb cake; and roasted asparagus...does a meal get any better, than when these are included in the menu?! Mmmmm...all 3 are what we've enjoyed so far this week, thanks to Brian's dedicated morel hunting and Cindy's asparagus and rhubarb crop :)
