...and each day is something fun for him this week, in his classroom. Today his teachers reads a letter to his class, from Brian and I. Last night before bed Bryton was concerned about what the letter would say... (since he'd been in trouble through dinner for not listening to Brian and I.)
Bryton Victor Engle
born Feb. 15, 2003 (you decided to arrive earlier than planned… :)
5 lb. 7 oz.
19 inches long
* You were a healthy baby, w/ a full head of red hair, and bright blue eyes *
Dear Bryton ~
You are a very special boy. Everything you do reminds us of how important you are in our lives and how much we love you
-When we see you helping your sister, Avery....it reminds us of how responsible you are and how much you care for others.
-When we see you playing with your Legos and building amazing things… or drawing a cool detailed picture....it reminds us of how creative and talented you are.
-When you run to us to give us hugs....it reminds us of how much you love us, and the rest of your family.
-When we hear you laugh...it reminds us of how your sense of humor is contagious and makes us all laugh.
-When you're naughty...it reminds us that nobody's perfect and everyone makes mistakes.
-When you play sports...it reminds us of how coordinated you are, and how hard you try to succeed in everything you put your mind to.
-When we kiss you good night.... it reminds us that we get to see you when you wake up in the morning, and how lucky we are.
Keep up the good work 'star of our life'.
We Love You ~

Sleep Habits: Kids
Our kids are both so very different when they sleep. Bryton must thrash, toss, and turn...because when we check on him in the night, his covers are never on him and usually at least one is on the floor. And this can happen in a matter of a half an hour! Avery, on the other hand, sleeps like a mummy. Her sheets and blankets stay in the same position, as when she's tucked in at bedtime...and when she gets up in the morning they are rolled back neatly where she exits.
The other funny difference is how they wake up in the middle of the night, when kissing their foreheads and giving goodnight wishes. It is common for Bryton to pop straight up out of bed, look around very disoriented like, and say something crazy, like "wow, that was weird!" Avery stays in the position she is in (usually on her back...again, mummy like :), opens her eyes immediately, says "good night, Mommy/Daddy...I love you" in an alert little robot voice...all the while never moving an inch.

Home Sweet Home
We have returned home, and the Christmas season is officially over for us. Seems like its lasted quite awhile, with everything going on. I love Christmas, though, so I don't mind a bit :) Decorations are still up (which I'm in no hurry to get down)...but I suppose they will come down this week :( I always feel like the house looks bare when they come down, and then I get an itch to re-do something in the house. In this house, there is plenty that can be re-done at this point, so we'll see what the next few months bring I guess!

Safe and Sound in Charleston
Despite the icky weather, we arrived safely in Charleston last night. All went smoothly flying out of Milwaukee (I love this airport...small, reasonable, and away from the craziness of O'Hare, when the layover isn't there). Our flight was delayed slightly, putting us into Atlanta with about 20 min to make our connecting flight. Needless to say, that connection was on the other side of the airport, so we all had to run to make the flight. Not so easy to do in heals, so yes...I was seen shoe-less running thru the airport last night in Atlanta :) Unfortunately, our flight out of Atlanta did not go as smoothly. We boarded at 11 pm, and were still waiting on the runway at 1 am to be de-iced (Guess that airport isn't so used to a pile of planes needing to have that done quickly, b/c there was quite a lineup.) We finally arrived in Charleston in the wee hours of the morning, 2 hrs. behind schedule. But we made it...and all is well! Today Brian will get to sleep in awhile while I go into the office. He also plans to nose around downtown Charleston a bit, and we'll meet for lunch. Tonight is the DMI Charleston Holiday party at High Cotton, which is a restaurant in the Historical District downtown: www.mavericksouthernkitchens.com/highcotton.
(If I'm lucky, we'll have a little time to nap before hand :)
