This story hit me hard yesterday while I was on travel...sitting in the airport among many people. We all sat staring at the large TV, watching this story develop, in horror....
My thoughts immediately went to "please don't let this end up being prostitution charges...this poor little girl."
As of last night, the news was still saying charges were Human Trafficking and Felony Child Abuse.
This morning, the news is saying Prostitution. Such sick, sick people in this world...it makes my heart hurt.

Picking up Sticks

Bryton and Avery helped clean up in Gma Joyce and Gpa Chuck's yard on Sunday...and they were rewarded with nickels and peanut M&M's. Every child's dream! So, last night I took the kids to the store to pick out a small toy w/ the money they'd received. Bryton picked a tractor and trailer. Avery picked a whoopy cushion. Typical :) So the rest of the night, Bryton played nicely w/ his tractor and trailer...and other farm equipment. And Avery kept sitting on her whoopy cushion and laughing her belly laugh when it would "fart." Also typical :)
(She ended up putting a hole in it, she was on that thing so much...so now it is ducktaped! still works though...)

The Best Part of Your Day

Each night before bed, I ask Bryton what the best part of his day was. Last night, he said "Can you ask me that 3 times tonight?" I smiled, thinking it must have been a good day, and started asking the question. Here were his responses...

#1: "Picking out a toy." (thanks to Gma Joyce's 'helping pick up her sticks in the backyard' money)
#2: "Getting off the bus after school and coming home." (awe, awe...)
#3: "Going to the gym to play at recess." (and by the looks of the knees of his jeans, he hit the floor a few times playing tag :)

"I'm not having such a good day"

Last night while Bryton, Avery, and I were eating peaches at the table...before bed...Avery enlightened us with the following:

"Mommy, do you say you don't like people?"
"Have you ever heard me say that to someone?" (Jess)
"No" (Bryton and Avery together)
"Why?" (Jess)
"Cuz it hurts feelings." (Avery)
"Yes, it does. Why do you say that to others sometimes, Avery?" (Jess)
"Cuz she's crabby." (Bryton)
"Nuh uh, Bryton, its cuz I'm not having such a good day!" (Avery)
"Well, maybe next time you should tell that person just that, instead of saying you don't like them...when you really do like them." (Jess)
silence from Avery....(thinking, thinking)
"Ok, next time I'll say "I'm not having such a good day." (Avery...w/ a big smile :)

A Nice Reminder

On my way to work this morning, this song came on the radio...such a good song I've always liked...and yes, I shed a few tears on Rt. 20 this a.m. :)
