Bryton is 9 Years Old!
When he woke up yesterday morning, Bryton knew that by that time 9 years ago, he'd already been born. So, needless to say - he was excited about the day, from the moment he opened his eyes yesterday morning :) He took homemade donuts from "E-Town Coffee" in Elizabeth to school for his bday treat (and they were still warm when we picked them up...mmmm...chocolate and vanilla frosted, with lots of frosting...bday boy's order!); he was still hopping around when I picked him up from school, and then listed all of the people who had wished him a Happy Birthday during school!; he got to talk to his Cousins Isaac and Samuel and his Auntie Kristen in Alaska, via face time, and they wished him a Happy Birthday; he received quite a few phone calls from other family and friends, as well, wishing him a Happy Day!; for his Birthday Dinner he requested steak, spaghetti taco's (yes, this is odd - I will explain later :), broccoli....and we had apple crisp with LOTS of whip cream for bday dessert! And, last but not least, gifts: a football and a few clothing items from Mom, Dad, and Avery; turkey hunting pants and coat, and a science project "how-to" book from Grandma; an "Ice Road Truckers" shirt from the Alaskan Rife's; and a semi ride to his "kid's bday party" Sunday afternoon at the Bowling Alley in Stockton! Brian and Bryton are heading over to Brian's co-worker's husbands business in Freeport, checking out the semi's in the shop, and then Bryton will ride from Freeport to Stockton in a semi just like this one. (Brian's co-worker told Brian that her husband has been polishing his trucks for a few weeks now, so I think he might be as excited as Bryton :) When Bryton opened this part of his gift, he pretended to faint...it was pretty darned cute.
Happy 9th Birthday, Buddy!!!!

Celebrating Bryton's 9th Birthday w/ Grandpa and Grandma
This past weekend Bryton got to have his "first" 9th Birthday Party, a few days early, w/ Gma and Gpa! We had his favorite supper...taco's, and then enjoyed ice cream cake for dessert. Of course, opening presents was also on the agenda, as you can see! This Mama has one more day to prepare for her boy turning 9...sighhhh. What is Bryton about these days? He does "ok" w/ school (not his favorite, but he loves lunch, recess, art, and music!); he enjoys reading...on his Kindle, the most!; semi's, trucks, trains, construction equipment, tractors are still his "loves"; he is a great drawer...he amazes his dad and I w/ how well he does free-handed - what does draw most? - his "loves" :); his favorite foods are cheeseburgers, taco's, pizza, donuts, yogurt, broccoli, steak, tater tots, alfredo, and toad-in-a-hole's; he is a big eater right now, and about to out-grow his size 10 jeans (in length, only, as the adjustable wastes are still needed so that it can be cinched up); he is kind hearted and compassionate - for instance, today when I picked him up from school, one of the boys in 3rd grade with Bryton, who has some developmental problems, was apparently having trouble w/ his heavy backpack quite aways down from us....Bryton quickly hopped back out of the car, saying to me "Mom, I need to help him" ... I spotted the boy then, along w/ the many kids and teachers walking by him...and then I watched Bryton help him put his back pack on; he is doing well w/ basketball - he has learned a lot this year, and he can be found shooting hoops out in the driveway, after he is done w/ practicing piano and doing his homework after school; he helps his sister more often than not, when he sees she is struggling with something (which is quite often for the drama queen); "earth to Bryton" is a phrase one could use often with him, b/c he tends to tune out directions from his Mother and Father, which can create some very tense moments w/ the child :); he is learning how to play the electric guitar, slowly but surely; the dogs are his buddies, even the neighbor dog; he is a great dancer - especially to rap and hip-hop; Lego's are his most favorite hobby right now, next to drawing - he can spend hours building and creating vehicles, boats, machinery, buildings; he is still our home-body - when I ask him what his favorite part of the day was, before he goes to bed, he often says "being with you and Dad" (and usually Avery gets thrown in there too :)
