School Has Begun!

And so far, it is off to a very good start for both Bryton and Avery :) They each really like their teachers; they like who they are sitting by in class; and their new "kicks", water bottles, and book bags are fun! Here's to the start of a great 2012-2013 school year, as smiling 1st and 4th graders!

What's Up

It's been awhile since I've updated! What's up in our neck of the woods? A trip to the Dubuque Riverfront for a nice dinner on the water; our house remodel; babysitting Gma Candy's wild dog, Stella; the Elizabeth Fair; a fun visit with the Fortner family;and Vacation Bible School!

Update

Bryton's Stats: About 4 foot 8, 70 lbs, ash blonde hair, hazel eyes, freckles, no glasses anymore, size 6 to 6 1/2 Men's shoes. He is very much a 9 year old on the move...he is still really into sports - baseball right now, which will soon shift to football, followed by basketball! He eats well, often, and he isn't a very picky eater. So far he wants summer to be his time off from school, so he hasn't been very cooperative with reading books and extra math homework. Piano is something I don't have to push him to do, which is nice, since he has continued lessons through the summer. He is excited about his new 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Walters, because he has heard she has candy bars in her room; although, he isn't ready for school to start quite yet! Lego's, playing catch, shooting hoops, drawing, riding his scooter and bike, Wii, and playing with cars, trucks, tractors are his favorite home based playtime activities. He is a very good swimmer out at the lake, and he's usually jumping off the diving board, working on flips and dives at the pool. Bryton also enjoys fishing with his Dad, riding his 4 wheeler, and picking on his sister this summer! (he is good at taking good care of her and sticking up for her, too). Bedtime usually brings on the crazies for him, as he gets more and more tired; otherwise, Bryton is a fairly easy going, fun-loving, sensitive, compassionate, home-bodied kid. He wants to be a firefighter when he grows up. We love you very much, Buddy :) Avery's Stats: About 4 foot 3, 57 lbs, sandy blonde hair, hazel eyes, freckles, glasses, size 1 1/2 Youth shoes. She is a spunky, quirky, dramatic, and animated 6 year old. She'll be 7 in September, which is hard to believe. Singing, dancing, and whistling come easy for her...no matter what setting she is in! Friendships are important to her, and when she gets together with girlfriends, they spend much time "catching up" in their own little world. She enjoys the social aspects of baseball and basketball, and she is pretty aggressive when she plays sports. Avery is into clothes, shoes, purses, dolls, barbies, puppies, cats, and animals. Her American Girl dolls and stuffed animals get to "take turns" spending time with he. She plays pretend lots - house, office, school, store. Avery is also getting to be quite the eater - eating often, yet she is our picky one. Swimming at the lake and the pool are her absolute favorite things to do this summer. Home based activities she also enjoys are watching TV, playing Wii, drawing and coloring, playing cars/trucks with her brother once in awhile, helping her Mom with anything assigned - cleaning, folding laundry, setting the table, cooking/baking, gardening. She has fun playing catch, swimming, and fishing with her Dad. Avery is ready for school to start - and she is excited about her new 1st Grade teacher, Mrs. Burns, saying she is "the prettiest teacher in the school!" Bedtime brings on either sleepy sillies or extreme crabbiness for Avery, depending on the night. Avery is not our home body - she likes to be on the go, and she is always aware of who and what surrounds her. Her memory is sharp, and her tongue can be as well! She wants to be a Dr. when she grows up. We love you very much, Peanut :)

Punishment

The past few weeks we have had a few "breaks" at Grandma's house...Avery, part of a lamp, and Bryton, a wine glass. Soooo, they had to come up with a "job" they could do for Grandma, that they thought she would really appreciate. With a little help from Mom, they came up with a car wash..so Tah Dahhh: She now has a clean car, inside and out :)
