Flying North

Sighhhh....this morning we head home. Its hard to believe we've been here almost a week. Time flies when you are having fun. I could easily handle waking up every morning to 70 degree morning temps, seagulls talking, waves lapping against the shore, and the picturesque view of blue sky melting into blue water. We've all caught up on sleep. Its amazing how well we sleep when the days are spent entirely outside. Good thing summer is coming to NW IL :) The water is very clear here and the sand white. Bryton's favorite part of the beach was looking for shells and sea creatures that washed onto shore; playing football/catch and paddle ball; and building sand sculptures w/ his dad. Avery's favorite part was making "shell soup" with her buckets of water, sand, little shells; building sand castles; and swimming in the Gulf. She also got to be quite the swimmer in the pool, holding her breath under water for as long as 9 seconds. Bryton also did his fare share of swimming in the pool...mastering the cannon ball and tucking into a nice ball to flip when his dad would throw him. Bryton wasn't into swimming in the ocean as much as Avery this trip. The first day he dove right in, got a big mouthful of saltwater, and threw up! That made him a little leary the rest of the trip, so he preferred going all out w/ his swimming in the pool! We tried some great local restaurants...indulging in fresh crab salad, crab cakes, shrimp rangoons, calamari, and scallops. Those kind of meals we definitely will miss when we return to IL!
I will end this post with the intent of getting the rest of our stuff packed up while the kids sleep...so that I can head down to the beach for one last look of the clear water and white sand before we head to the airport :)
